La means pass.This pass stands at an altitude of 3,100 metres above Mean Sea Level. At its heights are the 108 chortens called “Druk Wangyel Chorten” built with an initiative of Her Majesty Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to honour His Majesty the 4th King Jigme Singye Wangchuck and his people for their victory in 2003 en-counter. It is also dedicated for the benefit of all sentient beings. The pass is further beautified with colorful prayer flags surrounding the area.

At Dochu La, one can have a spectacular views of some of the great Himalayan peaks from the left with Masangang (7165m), Tshendagang (7100m), Jejegangphugang (7100m) and the Gangkarpunsum (7541m).

Some 100 metres above this pass stands the Druk WangyalLhakhang where a one day festival is conducted every year which was conceptualized by Dasho Karma Ura under the patronage of the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck.
