In 1997, Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck generated the establishment of a Folk Heritage Museum to show cast permanently some of the100-150 years old of rural life in Thimphu Valley. The project began in March 2000 with the restoration of the 3-story house built in the 19th century has to its former condition. The Folk Heritage Museum was completed in July 2001 with its inauguration on 27th July, the same year.
