Stretched along the hilltop above the confluence of the Punakha Chu and Dang Chu rivers. The Dzong is open for visitors during Wangduephodrang Tsechu, celebrated in autumn. Unfortunately, this national monument of historical importance was gutted by fire in 2012. Reconstruction is under progress to its original glory.
